Weekly Condition Monitoring Star of the Week for June 23rd - 29th, Polk County, NC

Our Weekly Condition Monitoring Star of the Week was posted on June 29th by observers with station number NC-PK-16 in Polk County, North Carolina.  Their report is great because it lists multiple observations that include soil moisture, plant stress and wildlife activity.  The observer even measured soil the depth at which dampness could be measured in their soil.  This participant proves to be a great observer of their environment. Thank you, NC-PK-16!

The total amount of liquid precipitation received during the past week was 1.51 inches; 0.81 inches fell last night. There are currently no standing pools of water on the property. Soil is damp in the first three inches. During the past week, broad-leaf vegetables showed some sign of stress with wilting leaves--a few sunflowers and some squash plants. They have since recovered. Very early in the week we irrigated our orchard. We have seen no signs of deer, raccoon, fox, or coyote in the past week.
